Pengadilan Kecelakaan Pesawat Concorde Digelar

PARIS - Jatuhnya pesawat Concorde yang dimiliki maskapai penerbangan Prancis Air France 10 tahun lalu, kini memasuki tahap pengadilan atas pihak yang diduga terlibat dalam kecelakaan tersebut. Maskapai penerbangan Amerika Serikat (AS), Continental, dan lima orang lainnya akan menjalani proses pengadilan di Prancis.

Penerbangan gemilang armada Concorde yang saat itu diklaim sebagai yang teraman dan tercepat, tercoreng ketika terjadi kecelakaan pada Juli 2000 lalu. Saat itu pesawat Concorde milik Air France jatuh, sesaat setelah lepas landas dari Bandara Charles De Gaulle. Alhasil 109 penumpang pesawat serta empat orang di darat saat pesawat bernomor penerbangan 4590 itu jatuh di kota Gonese, Prancis.

Akibat kecelakaan tersebut seluruh armada Concorde yang dimiliki oleh Prancis dan Inggris sempat dilarang untuk terbang kembali. Sementara hasil penyelidikan yang dilakukan setelah kecelakaan menemukan jika salah satu roda dari pesawat terbakar dan serpihannya mengenai tanki dari pesawat, yang menyebabkan kecelakaan.

Setelah satu setengah tahun dilarang terbang, pada November 2001 armada Concorde kembali mengudara dengan tanki bahan bakar yang sudah dimodifikasi. Tetapi penyelidikan atas kecelakaan pada 10 tahun silam tetap berlanjut. Hasilnya, pada Desember 2004 ditemukan jika kecelakaan fatal tersebut disebabkan oleh serpihan pesawat yang berada di landasan.

Penyidik menemukan jika serpihan pesawat yang mengenai pesawat Concorde tersebut berasal dari penutup mesin pesawat DC-10 milik maskapai penerbangan Continental Airlines. Pesawat Continental tersebut sebelumnya memang lepas landas sebelum pesawat Concorde Air France yang jatuh itu mengudara.

Seperti dilansir BBC, Selasa, (2/2/2010), kini pihak Continental Airlines diminta bertanggung jawab atas kecelakaan itu. Pihak penuntut Prancis mengajukan dakwaan pembunuhan massal kepada Continental Airlines yang dianggap terlibat dengan kecelakaan.

Tetapi pihak maskapai penerbangan AS tersebut menolak tuduhan penuntut Prancis. Mereka menolak bertanggung jawab sambil menyebutkan jika pesawat Concorde milik Air France itu sudah terlebih dulu rusak sebelum terkena serpihan pesawat berjenis DC-10 milik Continental Airlines.

Selain Continental Airlines, penuntut Prancis juga mengajukan tuduhan yang sama kepada lima orang yang dianggap terlibat langsung dalam kecelakaan mematikan itu. Kelima orang tersebut adalah mekanik Continental Airlines John Taylor serta petugas perawatan pesawat maskapai tersebut, Stanley Ford.

Dua orang dari armada Concorde, yakni mantan Kepala Mekanik Concorde Jacques Harubel dan mantan Kepala Divisi Concorde dari Aeorpastiale Henri Perrier, juga turut terseret ke pengadilan. Selain itu mantan anggota Pengawas Penerbangan Sipil Prancis Claude Frantzen juga turut dibawa ke pengadilan ini.

Pengadilan atas pihak tertuduh ini sendiri rencananya akan berlangsung di Pontoise, Prancis. Pengadilan ini dijadwalkan akan berlangsung selama 53 hari.

Setelah kecelakaan yang menewaskan 113 orang ini, pamor Concorde makin menurun. Meski sempat mengudara kembali pada 2001, namun peristiwa kecelakaan maut itu sepertinya mempengaruhi kepercayaan penggunanya. Akhirnya penerbangan pesawat supersonik itu pun diputuskan berakhir pada 24 Oktober 2003, dengan penerbangan terakhir pada 2006 November 2006. (faj)(rhs)
